What is SES.Hospedajes?

SES.Hospedajes is the Spanish Ministry of the Interior's online portal where you must report who is staying in your house, hotel or holiday rental. You have 24 hours from check-in to do it, and it applies to every kind of accommodation in Spain.

Fact-checked ·

SES.Hospedajes is the digital successor to the old paper "parte de viajeros". It is run by the Ministry of the Interior and is mandatory for hotels, hostels, rural houses, tourist dwellings (VUT) and campsites — and also for car-hire companies without driver. The legal basis sits in Royal Decree 933/2021. After several postponements, the system has been truly enforced since 2 December 2024.

For every guest who enters your property you send their data: first name and surname, document (DNI, NIE or passport), nationality, date of birth. Plus the data of the accommodation and of the contract (dates, number of people). Children under fourteen are not registered on their own — their data is provided by the adult accompanying them (RD 933 art. 4).

You have 24 hours maximum from the moment the guest checks in to submit the report. You do it on the portal hospedajes.ses.mir.es (by hand if you have few guests) or via an automated connection (if you use software that talks directly to it). You must keep the records for 3 years from the end of the service (RD 933 art. 5.3).

Not reporting, or reporting late, triggers fines under Organic Law 4/2015 on citizen security. The amounts are set in its article 39: minor €100-600, serious €601-30,000, very serious €30,001-600,000. A National Police or Guardia Civil inspection can cross-reference your reports with bookings on Airbnb or Booking — missing people in SES means a fine.

Why it matters

SES.Hospedajes is the first administrative duty you must complete before accepting a single guest in Spain. Without registration and daily reporting your activity is illegal in the eyes of the Interior Ministry — regardless of whether you hold a tourist licence. And it is daily work: every guest who checks in starts a 24-hour countdown.
